Alene Maner

April 6, 1920 — October 8, 2016

Hazel Alene Maner was known as Alene to her friends and family. She was born in San Augustine, Texas on April 6, 1920 and was one of eight children of Oscar Lee and Lennie (Ferguson) Goines. She lived most of her life in Houston, Texas and moved to Bedias in 1980. She was a homemaker and also taught oil painting. She was a member the Madisonville Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star and was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Madisonville. Mrs. Maner passed away in Madisonville on October 8, 2016 at the age of 96 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Archie Maner; three sons, Jack Goolsby, Fred Goolsby and Jerry Goolsby; a brother, M.L. Gaines; four sisters, Frankie Thomas, Bernice Lozier, Emogene Hall and Addie Marie Hargrave. Her surviving family includes a granddaughter and her husband, Amanda and Clint Wakefield of Madisonville, great grandchildren, James Steindl, Quincey Surface and Asa Surface and two sisters, Shirley McVey and Madie Alston (husband, Clyde) all of Madisonville.
A visitation is scheduled for Thursday evening October 13, 2016 from 6 PM until 8 PM at the Madisonville Funeral Home. The funeral service is set for 10 AM on Friday, October 14, 2016 at the funeral home. Burial will follow in the Bedias Methodist Cemetery.
