Betty Lee Mundy

Betty Lee Mundy was born on August 2, 1934 in Edna, Texas to Roy John & Ruby (Young) Gregory. In her earlier years she worked as a phone operator until she married her husband, Edwin Lewis Mundy. Following her marriage she made the decision to care for her family full time as a homemaker.

Betty was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church in Buffalo and loved attending Sunday School. She was also a member of a number of organizations including, Order of the Eastern Star #157, E.E. Club and she had once assisted her husband when he was a Boy Scout leader. In her spare time, Betty loved to tend to her flowers in the flower beds. She had lived in Buffalo since 1994, coming from Omaha, Nebraska, and before that, Spring, Texas.

Betty passed away on Monday, May 22, 2017, in Palestine, Texas. She was preceded in death by both of her parents; husband, Edwin Mundy; sister, Juanita White and brothers, Kenny & Eugene Gregory. She is survived by son, Billy Mundy (fianc, Alyssa Hernandez) of Buffalo; grandson, Wesley Lewis Mundy of Three Rivers and granddaughter, Megan Renee Thornton (husband, Trey) of Houston. Betty is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews & extended family.

Funeral services are scheduled for 1 P.M., Thursday, May 25, 2017 at the First Baptist Church in Buffalo. Rev. Alan Grisham, pastor of the church, will officiate the service, and interment will follow in the Buffalo Cemetery. Visitation will take place from 6 PM to 8 PM, Wednesday, May 24th at the Walters Buffalo Funeral Home in Buffalo.

Walters Buffalo Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements.
