Graveside services for Joe Dover, 82, of Leona, will be held at 2 P.M., Saturday, November 5, 2016 at the Security Cemetery near Conroe. Pastor Tuffy Loftin will officiate the service. There will be no public visitation.

Joe Allan Dover was born on February 17, 1934 in Conroe, Texas. He was raised in Conroe and attended the Sam Houston Elementary School; a school in which his wife and daughter both attended, as well. Joe worked the majority of his life in commercial construction. If hed had it his way, Joe would have hunted and fished for crappie all day. He loved both of these activities, mainly because it allowed him an opportunity to be outdoors. This is where Joe was most at home. He loved to work the land with his tractor and also had a large vegetable garden every year. Joe liked to host gatherings of family and friends so that he could show off his famous bar-b-que. He was also quite the storyteller and loved to play dominos while sharing stories at the gatherings. Joe found humor in everything and was quite the comedian, which helped when he told some of those tall tales. Along with the above pastimes, Joe was a hard core Dallas Cowboys fan and enjoyed watching them play. He had lived in Leona since 2001, coming from Navasota, and was Church of Christ in faith.

Joe passed away on November 1, 2016 in Bryan, Texas following a lengthy illness. He was preceded in death by both of his parents; an infant son and sister, Lillian Thomas. Surviving family members include wife, Patsy Dover of Leona; daughter, Sharon Williams of Leona; son, Joe Alton Dover of Navasota and grandchildren, Jay Williams of College Station, Jody Bussey of Cisco and Kaylee & Brady Dover of Navasota. Joe is also survived by two great grandchildren, Falyn & Carson Rabb.
