Opal Ray Sanford

Opal Sanford was born Opal Ray Harris on October 11, 1924 in Madison County to Walter O., Sr. and Ruth (Nixon) Harris. She passed away on September 25, 2016 in Huntsville, Texas. Opal graduated from Lamar High School in Houston in 1943. She was a homemaker for most of her life. In the 1960s, she worked for her sisters company, Rebeccas Catering Service. Opal served the architects and construction workers from the ground breaking to the opening day of the Houston Astrodome.
She was preceded in death by her parents; by her husband, John T. Sanford and by her son, Billy N. Plante, Jr. She leaves a daughter, Jeanne Boucher and her husband, Charles Boucher of Huntsville, Texas. Opal is also survived by grandchildren, Denise Ballard of Huntsville, Texas, Jean Marc Boucher and wife, Joni Boucher of Katy, Texas, Terrie Lynn Brown of Mt. Bellview, Texas, Kevin W. Plante of Baytown, Texas, Angelia Arabie and husband, David, of Mt. Bellview, Texas; great grandchildren, Danielle and Taylor Brown, Bennet and Brenna Plante, Angel, Aaron, Alexia and Ava Arabie, Luc, Emma and Mark Allen Boucher and nieces, nephews and many friends.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 1st at 1:00 in the afternoon at the Huntsville Church of Christ on Hwy 30 West. The family asks that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Church of Christ Missions Committee, 3737 State Hwy 30 West, Huntsville, Texas 77340.
