Funeral services for Alfred Leo Bubba Pate will be held at 10 A.M., Thursday, August 11, 2016 at the Walters Buffalo Funeral Home in Buffalo, Texas. Pastor Lloyd Lane will officiate the service. Interment will be in the Buffalo Cemetery with funeral honors presented by the U.S. Army. A public visitation will take place from 6 P.M. to 8 P.M., Wednesday, August 10th at the funeral home.

Serving as pallbearers will be Mitchell Pate, Daniel Ansley, Dylan Ansley, Daren Kingsbury, J.T. Ansley & Paul Slatter.

Alfred Leo Pate was born on July 12, 1934 in Flo, Texas to J.B. & Lucille (Lummus) Pate. He graduated from Centerville High School in 1952 and was drafted into the U.S. Army. Bubba was stationed in Alaska when it became the 50th state. He was very proud of his time in the U.S. Army. Following his service, Bubba married his beautiful wife, Linda Slatter, on July 24, 1959. Bubba was a skilled carpenter, working with his father for many years. Around 1978, Bubba began working for Leon County Supply. After its closure, he worked for Woodson Lumber Company until six years ago. Bubba loved going grocery shopping and picking up mail at the post office; mainly because he was able to visit with friends and socialize. He also enjoyed a good game of 42. Most of all, Bubba loved spending his time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. They always brought so much joy to his life, and Bubba loved them with all of his heart. Bubba was a lifelong resident of Buffalo and Baptist in faith. He passed away on August 8, 2016 in Fairfield, Texas following a lengthy illness. Bubba was preceded in death by both of his parents and grandson, J.W. Bottoms, II.

Surviving family members include his wife of fifty-seven years, Linda Pate of Buffalo; sons, Nathan (Ginger) Pate of Buffalo and Jimmy (Sherry) Pate of Buffalo; daughter, Melissa (Dan) Ansley of Buffalo and brother, Verner Lloyd (Florence) Pate of Flo. Bubba is also survived by his grandchildren, Rush (Candice) Pate, Krystal (Billy) Bilodeau, Mitchell Pate, Jennifer (Daren) Kingsbury, Daniel (Brittney) Ansley, Dylan (Christy) Ansley and Bridget (Dean) Gauntt and great grandchildren, Konnor, Landon, Hayden, Brayson, Blayne, Zachary & Kenlee.

Walters Buffalo Funeral Home in Buffalo is in charge of all arrangements.
