Aola Yvonne Schannon

Funeral services for Mrs. Aola Yvonne Schannon, age 84, of Houston, Texas have been set for 12 noon, Saturday, May 13, 2017 at the Walters Funeral Home Chapel in Centerville, Texas. Rev. D. Johnson will officiate and burial in Burton Cemetery will follow the service. There will be a brief visitation/viewing from 11 AM until 12 noon before the service.


Mrs. Schannon was born on July 4, 1932 in Leon County, Texas to Henry and Callie (Robinson) Lusk. She was raised in the Egypt Community of Leon County and accepted Christ at an early age at the Oak Grove Church in that small community. She met and married Abe Spencer Schannon, Jr. who was from Alexandria, Louisiana. They had a son and two daughters. Mrs. Schannon lived most of her life in Houston. She enjoyed cooking for friends and family and playing card games. She also loved beautiful things. Mrs. Schannon passed from this life on May 3, 2017 in a nursing home in Houston.


She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Elerna Henry; brothers, Josh Lusk and Ed Lee Lusk; a daughter, Sandra Stepherson and her husband. Surviving family includes a son, Sedrick Schannon of Houston; a daughter, Schonda Schannon of Houston; four granddaughters, Sucrezia, Schantazia, Sharissa and Symanthah, two grandsons, Sedrick, Jr. and Deyon and two great grandchildren, Denim and Denver.
