Bro. Charlie E. Young

Bro. Charlie Young, 72, passed away Friday, June 11, 2021 in Crockett, Texas. A celebration of his life will be held 9:30 A.M., Saturday, June 19, 2021 at River of Life Church east of Centerville, Texas. Pastor Ron Nissen will officiate the service, assisted by Greg Long and Rosemary Matthews. The Young family will receive friends Friday, June 18th from 6 P.M. to 8 P.M. at River of Life Church.

Charles Edward Young was born November 5, 1948 in Searcy, Arkansas to Henry C. & Dorothy (McCarty) Young. He was an excellent basketball player in high school and was even given the opportunity to play college ball on a scholarship. Charlie did various work throughout his life which included his favorite—carpentry, but Bro. Charlie’s true calling was the ministry. He eventually built and became the minister of River of Life Church. Charlie also took on full maintenance responsibilities of the church, as well.

Bro. Charlie was preceded in death by both of his parents; grandfather, Ossie Ladell “Mac” McCarty (1979) and Fannie Miller (1985); step-grandson, Earl Wayne Hailey, III (2000); mother-in-law, Maude Smith (2008) and son, Earl Wayne Hailey, Jr. (2010). Surviving family includes wife, Paulette Young of Centerville; children, Bryan (Wendy) Young of Elkhart, Darrell (Tina) Hailey of Conroe and Hymie Love Wagers of Centerville; sister, Betty (Charles) Smith of Centerville; half-sister, Billie; grandchildren, Haley, Ethan, Abigail & Janyra Young, Mykala & Cole Follmar, Jessica (Blakely) Norwood, Joshua (Myca) Hailey and Cory Hailey and great-grandchildren, Jaden & Parker Norwood and Avery & Brantley Levi Hailey.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the River of Life Church or an animal shelter or charity of choice.
