Calvin Prair Huggins, Jr was born on January 9th, 1934, in Kilgore, Texas and passed from this life peacefully on October 7th, 2022, at his home in Flynn, Tx surrounded by his family. He was eighty-eight years old.

After graduating high school, Calvin joined the service and was stationed in California. He served in the US Navy during the Korean war and was a gunner's mate aboard the USS Renshaw. He met his first wife during this time, and they continued to live in California for many years where he worked as a truck driver, and they raised their five sons. He later moved back to Texas and was a master mechanic at Brown & Root for twenty-five years, and then became a jailor for the Madison County Sheriff's Department. All the inmates in the County Jail loved him and his many stories he told each morning. He met his second wife, Ann Goldsmith at a horse boarding facility on Gulfbank Road in Houston, where Ann's Aunt Marie took a chance and played matchmaker. They were married a year later in 1975. They lived in the Conroe area for many years and moved to Flynn after Calvin retired.

Calvin enjoyed many hobbies including horseback riding, ham radio operator and motorcycle rides. He owned horses, made many trail rides and was a member of the Harris County Sheriff's Mounted Posse. They performed many functions for the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo, including carrying the flag at the Grand Entry and delivering an invitation to the Texas Govenor by horseback. He also enjoyed staying up late at night and talking on his ham radio, where he talked to people all around the world. He was a member of the Kruzin' Eagles motorcycle club and attended many motorcycle rides and rallies. He was known to wear a Willie Nelson wig with long pigtails while riding his Harley. Calvin was especially known for his many witty remarks, funny sayings, animated gestures and facial expressions whenever he told a story. Calvin was a one of a kind. He loved his country, loved our troops and he will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Calvin was preceded in death by his parents Edna Huggins and Calvin Huggins Sr, sister Evelyn Huggins, and son Edwin Huggins

He is survived by his wife of forty-seven years, Theodora Ann Huggins; sister, Darlene Johnston; sons, Cecil Huggins, Karl Huggins, Gary Huggins and Tim Huggins; stepsons, Danny Ferraro and Dwayne Ferraro, twenty-two grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren, one great-great-granddaughter; and numerous nieces and nephews.
