Carl E. "Cotton" Hassler

Carl E. “Cotton” Hassler, 87, passed away Monday, July 19, 2021 in College Station, Texas. He was born one of ten children, April 17, 1934 in Klein, Texas to Edward and Clara Hassler.

Cotton was raised in Klein and had lived in Centerville since 1970. Throughout his life he owned and operated his own businesses including a convenience store, gas station, sawmill and tree farm. Cotton was a farmer his entire life and had also worked in the oil field business. He was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Centerville.

Cotton was preceded in death by both of his parents; son, Darrell Hassler; brothers, Henry "Hank" Hassler and Harvey Hassler and sister, Irene Niemann. His surviving family includes wife, Edith Hassler of Centerville; son, Bret (Shirley) Hassler of Centerville; daughter, Sherry (Freddie) Baldwin of Iola; brothers, Earl Hassler of Silsbee and Kerry (Mary) Hassler of Spring and sisters, Evelyn Prestwood, Clarice (David) Meineke of Pennington, Florine Bonner of Magnolia, and Linda Hassler of Spring. He is also survived by grandchildren, Eddie Baldwin and Shane Hassler; step-grandchildren, Anna Kelner & Bubba Williams and several great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for Cotton will be held 11 A.M., Saturday, July 24, 2021 at Our Savior Lutheran Church, Centerville, Texas. Rev. Keith Bowman will officiate the service. Interment will follow in New Salem Cemetery in the Centerview Community of Leon County, Texas. A public visitation will take place Friday, July 23rd from 5 P.M. to 7 P.M. at Walters Funeral Home, Centerville, Texas.

Pallbearers: Reggie Langston, Keith Goedecke, John Pillack, Eddie Baldwin, Drew Johnson, Darrel Langston.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Our Savior Lutheran Church, Centerville, Texas.
