Funeral services for Carol DeSpain, age 68, of Centerville, Texas will be held 10 A.M., Friday, July 8, 2022 at the Cowboy Church of Leon County, Centerville, Texas. Pastor of the church, Tuffy Loftin, will officiate the service. Interment will follow in Centerville Cemetery. A time of visitation will be held Thursday, July 7th from 5 P.M. to 7 P.M. at Walters Funeral Home, Centerville, Texas.

Carol Jean (Rappolee) DeSpain was born February 20, 1954 in Houston, Texas to Jean & Marjorie (Tanner) Rappolee. Carol was raised in Channelview, Texas. She and her late husband, Ron, moved to Centerville in 1981, where they raised their family. Carol worked and retired as an assistant manager for Wells Fargo Bank, Centerville. She most enjoyed daily visits with each customer and taking extra time to get to know every one of them, all while showing off that lovely smile of hers that she was so well known for. Carol loved working in her flower beds and mowing her yard. All six of her grandchildren were boys, and Granny's house was their favorite place to go. Perhaps it was because Carol always had their favorite flavor of ice cream waiting when they visited, along with plenty of love to pass around. Carol was not only "Granny" to her own grandsons, but to many children in the community. Carol's nieces and nephews also held a special place in her heart. The relationships she had with all of the children in the family can only be described as unique and endearing. Family meant everything to Carol. She was also such a positive person who only had kind words for everyone she came into contact with. She will be deeply missed by her family and the entire community. Carol passed away July 2, 2022 at her home in Centerville.

Carol was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald DeSpain (2020), and just days after Carol's passing, her father, Jean Rappolee. She is survived by loving sons, Jesse DeSpain (Amanda) and Cody DeSpain (Casey), both of Centerville; brother, Dickie Rappolee (Paulette) of Centerville and sisters, Nancy Mitchell (Mike) and Jo Williams (Richard), both of Centerville. She is also survived by grandchildren, Corbin Chandler, Caiden Boss, Jeran Schaedler, Dayton DeSpain, Jake Pineda, Weston DeSpain and Luke DeSpain, as well as numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and extended family members.
