Gilbert Gresham III passed away peacefully in his sleep in his home near Centerville, Texas surrounded by family on August 27, 2022.
He is survived by his wife, Jill, brother Robert Gresham, sister Susan Streeter; sons David Gresham, Clint Brown, Pat Gresham, and Daniel Brown and his daughters-in-law, Edith, Jackie, Nancy and Desarie. Gilbert had numerous grandchildren: Tyler, Justin, Leila, Caroline, Taylor, Colby, John, Maya, Harrison, Jacob, and Samantha.
Gilbert was an adventurer. He learned to fly and enjoyed seeing the world from the clouds. He sailed, and with his wife Jill, explored the Gulf, Caribbean and Atlantic waters. He and Jill had many great adventures to distant lands. A bowhunter, Gil relished the challenge of taking game and bagged several trophies including deer, elk, and a Pope & Young record black bear.
He loved reading about history and archeology. In his younger years he was actively involved in coaching sports and volunteered on committees at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo.
He seldom met a stranger and was quick to help others when needed. Gilbert supported the Centerville Volunteer Fire Department.
Those who knew him well will certainly miss his off-beat humor.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Leon County Child Welfare Board or the Centerville Volunteer Fire Department.
A time of visitation and fellowship will be held from 5 P.M. to 7 P.M., Friday, September 2, 2022 at Walters Funeral Home, Centerville, Texas.
