Funeral services for Mrs. Gladys Lamb, 101, will be held 2 P.M., Wednesday, June 24, 2020 at Walters Funeral Home in Centerville, Texas. Interment will follow in Pleasant Grove Cemetery in southern Leon County. The Lamb family will receive friends Tuesday, June 23rd from 6 P.M. to 8 P.M. at the funeral home.
Gladys (Spiller) Lamb was born July 23, 1918 in the Spiller Store Community of Leon County to James Harvey & Lulan Gertrude (Dickey) Spiller. Gladys had lived her entire life in the Spiller Store Community until 1963 when she moved to Centerville, where she remained until her passing. Gladys was an accomplished seamstress. She made both her daughter’s clothing until they graduated high school and continued to sew until shortly before her death. Gladys was also known for her excellent cooking and famous home-made dinner rolls. She was a loving MeeMaw and cared deeply for each of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Gladys passed away peacefully June 20, 2020 at her home in Centerville. She was preceded in death by both of her parents; husband, W.C. Lamb and siblings, Percy Spiller, Eva Knox, Elon Way and J.H. Spiller. Her surviving family members include daughters, Sharon Smith (Billy Ray) of Magnolia and Carolyn Kornegay (Owen Dean) of Centerville; grandchildren, Terry Smith, Lori Noack (James), Alan-Michael Smith, Brad Kornegay (Cyndi), Brent Kornegay and Brandon Kornegay (Hillary) and great-grandchildren, Alec, Zachary, Madilynn & Chloe Smith, Maverick & Macoy Noack, Jaden, Karter, Hudson, Sterling, Harper, Kinsley, Addison, Jagger & Preston Kornegay.
Arrangements are under the direction of Walters Funeral Home, Centerville, Texas.
