Jack Hoyt Winn

Jack Hoyt Winn was called home by our heavenly father on September 13, 2016 at the age of 93. Jack was born in Marquez, Texas on August 18 1923, the son of the late Felix Burlin and lda Grace (Hoyt) Winn.

He was raised in Marquez, Texas and served his country in the United States Army. He was proud to have been a World War II veteran and to have been at the invasion in Normandy on D Day. After the war, he attended Sam Houston State University where he met his late wife, Candy, of 66 years. He worked as a salesman most of his life in the Houston and Austin area retiring from Universal Underwriters. After retirement, he moved back to Marquez to raise cattle and live in the home where he was raised. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his wife, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.


He passed away on September 13, 2016 after residing to Lockhart, Texas in his final years.


He was preceded in death by both his parents, brothers, Sherrod, Albert Burlin, Harold, and sister, Elizabeth and his loving wife Billie Margaret Candy Winn.


He is survived by his children Candace Winn Phillips and husband Steven Phillips of Lockhart, TX; Jack Winn Jr. and wife, Dodie of Marquez, TX; his grandchildren, Barry and wife Connie Phillips of Lockhart, TX; Natalie and husband Bobby Mitchell of Lockhart, TX; Lindsey Phillips and fiance Joe OConnell of Hutto, Tx; and Chris Miller; his great-grandchildren Sydalie , Copeland, Eric, Alex, Noel, Colt, Cate, and Cambry and his great great grandchild, Heaven. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews.


Funeral services for Jack Winn will be held at 10 A.M., Saturday, September 17, 2016 at the Marquez United Methodist Church in Marquez, Texas. Interment will follow in the Marquez Cemetery. A visitation will take place from 4 P.M. to 7 P.M., Friday, September 16th at the Walters Funeral Home in Centerville, Texas.
