Funeral services for Jean Fox Hightower, 92, of Caldwell and formerly of Centerville, will be held at 2 P.M., Wednesday, September 7, 2016 at the Walters Funeral Home in Centerville, Texas. Dr. Malcolm Bane will officiate the service and interment will be in the Centerville Cemetery. A public visitation will take place on Wednesday from 10 A.M. to 12 Noon at the funeral home.

Jean Fox Hightower was born in Pontotoc, Mississippi on April 30, 1924. She was one of a set of identical twins. Her parents were Mabel Majure Fox, who was a school teacher, and Erbin Erwin Fox, who was a school superintendent before he was stricken with Parkinsons Disease.

Jean received her college degree from Mississippi State College for women. She also attended summer school at Mississippi State and Ole Miss. Jean would usually watch three college football games on Saturdays during football season and, of course, root for the Mississippi teams! She loved NFL on Sundays and would usually watch three games, especially if Eli or Peyton Manning were playing.

Jean loved to sew and make clothes for her grandchildren. She also loved to crochet and gave away many afghans and other things.

Jean rarely missed a Sunday attending Sunday school and church at First United Methodist in Centerville and later at Providence Baptist in Caldwell, the five years that she had attended. Although she could not see to read a hymnal, she knew the words to many songs and would sing along. Jean picked out the songs to be sung by her familys beloved friend, Shirley Hearne. She also picked out the scripture Psalm 121 to be read because, as a camp counselor, she had to memorize it. She picked out Psalm 100, as well.

Jean was married to Ralph Hightower on July 4, 1948 and were married for fifty-eight years until his passing. She was welcomed into the arms of angels on September 1, 2016 in Caldwell, Texas. Jean was preceded in death by both of her parents and husband, Ralph N. Hightower.

Surviving family members include son, Clay Hightower of Conroe; daughters, Gail (David) Beal of Sugar Land and Janet Schafer of Caldwell; twin sister, June Fox Mitchell of Brandon, MS; sister, Frances Fox Blackwell of Germantown, TN; grandchildren, Jenna Spencer, Ashley Robledo, Abby Brasell and Michael Beal and great grandchildren, Alec Robledo, Cate Robledo, Blakely Brasell, Porter Spencer & Paisley Spencer.
