Jean Olson

Funeral services for L. Jean (Kennedy) Olson, age 92, will be held at 10 A.M., Friday, July 14, 2017 at the Walters Buffalo Funeral Home in Buffalo, Texas. Reverend Paula Behrens, pastor of Stewart Memorial U.M.C., will officiate the service. Interment will be held at 2 P.M. at Friendship Cemetery near Rockdale, Texas. A visitation will take place from 6 P.M. to 8 P.M., Thursday, July 13th at the funeral home.

Jean Olson was born on November 20, 1924 in Friendship, Texas to Bryant & Myrta (Strickland) Rhodes. She worked as an accountant most of her life. Jean enjoyed reading until her eyes began to fail her. She also crocheted quite often when she was younger and could never pass up an opportunity to attend a Houston Astros game. Jean had lived in Leon County for the past ten years, coming from Baytown, and had been a member of Stewart Memorial United Methodist Church since 2008.

Jean passed away on Tuesday, July 11, 2017 in Centerville, Texas. She was preceded in death by both of her parents and brothers, Roy & Bud Rhodes. Surviving relatives include three sons, Paul Kennedy (wife, Ann) of Buffalo, Lee Kennedy of Jackson, MS and Allan Kennedy of Buffalo and brother, Floyd Rhodes of Georgetown. Jean is also survived by five grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
