Katie Lee Davis

Katie Lee Davis, age 89, left her earthly home to be united with her Heavenly Father May 27, 2023.

Katie was born July 19, 1933 in Centerville, Texas to John Brown and Alberta (Holleman) Brown. She was raised in the Hopewell Community of Leon County. She accepted Christ at an early age and joined the Greater Oak Grove Baptist Church. Katie attended college at El Centro College and later earned a Theological Degree. She worked as a Recreation Center Manager for the Dallas Community Action Agency where she dedicated her life to mentoring and leading young adults. She was active in the summer recreation programs, driving young people to various theme parks and events and fostered loving and nurturing relationships with each young person she met. Katie also enjoyed working on arts and crafts projects in her spare time. She had lived in the Dallas area since 1960 following her marriage and was a sixty year member of Galilee Baptist Church.

Katie was preceded in death by both of her parents; ex-husband, Robert Lee Davis, Sr.; son, Keith Davis and a host of siblings. She leaves to cherish her memory sons, Gary Davis (Cheryl) of Dallas, Robert Lee Davis, Jr. of Dallas and John Davis of Dallas; sister, Hortense Brown of Fort Worth and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and other friends and family.

Homegoing services for Katie will be held 11 A.M., Saturday, June 3, 2023 at Walters Funeral Home, Centerville, Texas. Pastor Emeritus LR Davis of Galilee Baptist Church will officiate the service. Interment will follow in Burton Cemetery in rural Leon County. A brief visitation will take place from 10 A.M. to service time at the funeral home.
