Lillian Marie Schoen

March 19, 1922 — April 28, 2020

Lillian Marie (Nowak) Schoen, 98, of Centerville, with her daughters by her side, passed from this earthly home to her heavenly dwelling place April 28, 2020. She was born March 19, 1922, in Springfield, Illinois to Carl & Marie (Garlo) Nowak.

Lillian had lived in Centerville since 1983, coming from Friendswood, Texas. She had been a devoted and faithful member of Our Savior Lutheran Church since 1982, and was a member of the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League (LWML). Lillian was a skilled seamstress and had made both of her daughter’s wedding dresses, along with a few dresses for members of the wedding party. She also enjoyed needlework, gardening, canning and making wine from the wild grapes that grew on the ranch where she resided.

Lillian loved to travel and was very proud that she had visited forty-nine of the fifty United States. Her daughter made traveling to the fiftieth state possible when her family took Lillian on an Alaskan cruise about five years ago.

Lillian was a family-oriented person. When the kids were younger, every year she took them on a trip back to Illinois to see her people and continued to do so until they had graduated high school. She loved being near her own family and always enjoyed visits from her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Lillian was preceded in death by both of her parents; husband, Walter Schoen; sons, Randy Schoen & Ronnie Schoen; great-granddaughter, Ashley Schoen; daughter-in-law, Karen Schoen; brothers, Walter & Arthur Nowak and sister, Dorothy Hicks.

Surviving family includes daughters, Diana Baker (Chuck) of Friendswood and Darlene Anderson (Rick Buford) of Mexia; grandchildren, Kristen Michelle Parham of Houston, Dawn Saunders (Bill) of Friendswood, Staci Dauphine (Aaron) of Arcadia, OK, Ryan Hobus (Priscilla) of Bandera, Dustin Schoen (Abby) of Cypress and Adam Baker (Allison Pappas) of Providence, RI and great-grandchildren, Jordan Fowler of Houston, Micah, Evelyn & Delilah Saunders of Friendswood, Preston, Lillian & Carly Dauphine of Arcadia, OK, Jakob & Katherine Schoen of McKinney and Leyton & Layne Schoen of Cypress.
