September 29, 1961 — December 15, 2023

Maryann Polk, 62, entered her heavenly home, the joy of her reward on Friday, December 15, 2023. She leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and unforgettable memories. As we mourn her passing, let us take solace in celebrating the incredible life she lived. A service celebrating her earthly life will be held at 2 P.M., Saturday, December 30, 2023 at Walters Funeral Home, 610 S. Commerce St., Centerville, Texas.  Interment will follow in Two Mile Cemetery, Leona, Texas.

Maryann was known for her dedication and hard work throughout her career in the Hotel industry. Maryann took great pride in her profession and approached every task with a positive attitude that brightened the lives of those around her.

While Maryann excelled in her profession, she also made time for the important things in life – creating beautiful memories with her loved ones. Her sister, Marilyn, fondly remembers all their phone calls to each other “gossiping," and sharing interest in shopping, cooking, and gospel music.

Maryann's passing has left a void in the hearts of many, but her memory will forever live on through the cherished moments spent together. Maryann Polk, daughter of the late William Proctor and Louise Betts, was born on September 29, 1961, in Centerville, Texas. She will be lovingly remembered by her husband, Samuel Polk; children, Curtis Betts, Shawnette Martin, Otis Betts, Latonya Betts, Olivia Polk, and Samuel "Fathead" Polk; grandchildren; and great-grandchildren. She is also mourned by her brothers, David Proctor, Paul Proctor and Deckie Goynes; sisters, Marilyn Betts, Josyln Betts, Ella Allen, and Ann Holmes; four aunts, and three Uncles, as well as numerous relatives and friends.

In her leisure time, Maryann enjoyed watching soap operas, drinking her favorite soda, Pepsi, and eating Blue Bell Ice Cream. She also enjoyed taking care of her plants and birds, and spending quality time with her family. She believed in the importance of maintaining strong bonds with loved ones and strived to create lasting memories that would transcend time.

Maryann had a strong faith in the Lord which served as a guiding light throughout her life. She found solace in prayer and one of her favorite gospel songs, “There’s a Leak in this Old Building," and drew immense strength from her relationship with God. Her unwavering belief in His love was not limited to her personal spiritual journey; it also shaped the way she interacted with others. Maryann's faith was a source of comfort, inspiration, and hope for those who knew her.

Maryann Polk's passing is a tremendous loss to all who knew her. Her magnetic personality, sweet spirit, unwavering dedication to others, and love for family will forever be remembered. As we mourn the loss of an extraordinary woman, we also celebrate a life well-lived—one that has left an indelible mark on all those who had the privilege of crossing paths with Maryann. May she rest in eternal peace knowing that she has profoundly impacted the lives of many and will be remembered fondly by all who loved her.
