Owen Dean Kornegay

A funeral service honoring the life of Owen Dean Kornegay, 75, of Centerville, Texas, will be held at 2 P.M., Saturday, November 13, 2021 at Walters Funeral Home, Centerville, Texas. Rev. Patricia Lund, pastor of First United Methodist Church, Centerville, and Tommy Parker will officiate the service. Interment will follow in Pleasant Grove Cemetery, south of Centerville off FM 1119 in rural Leon County, Texas. The Kornegay family will receive friends from 6 P.M. to 8 P.M., Friday, November 12th at the funeral home.

Pallbearers: Jaden Kornegay, Karter Kornegay, Hudson Kornegay, Preston Kornegay, Micah Butler and Terry Smith.

Honorary Pallbearers: Gene Tryon, Donnie Gannaway, George Robert Gannaway, John Stineff, Arthur Proctor, Billy Ray Smith, Dwayne Pike, John Runyon, Elbert Roberts, Steve Severson and Tracy Baker.

Owen Dean Kornegay was born December 25, 1945 to William Joshua “W.J.” and Margaret (Parker) Kornegay. He was raised in Madisonville, Texas. Owen Dean owned and operated a land clearing construction business and lived in Centerville, Texas the majority of his life. Owen Dean passed away November 9, 2021 in Houston, Texas.

Surviving family members include devoted wife, Carolyn (Lamb) Kornegay of Centerville; sons & daughters-in-law, Brad & Cyndi Kornegay of Katy, Brent Kornegay of Centerville and Brandon & Hillary Kornegay of College Station; brothers, Jim Touchstone, Tim Touchstone, Josh Kornegay and Howard J. Kornegay; sisters, Alice Jebbia, Nancy Boone and Judy Kornegay and grandchildren, Jaden Kornegay, Karter Kornegay Hudson Kornegay, Sterling Kornegay, Harper Kornegay, Preston Kornegay, Kinsley Kornegay, Addison Kornegay and Jagger Kornegay as well as a host of extended family members and beloved friends.
