Rex Hendrix, 84, of Leona, Texas passed from this life at his home on Sunday, January 1, 2017. He had been a resident of Leona since moving from Houston in 1995, and was born and raised in Purvis, Mississippi. Rex served in the US Air Force from 1951-1955 before graduating from Mississippi State University in 1959 with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering. He served in numerous positions within the Oil and Gas industry, but most loved his career as a Training Manager at Dresser Atlas where he was employed for 36 years.
Rex is preceded in death by his wife of 42 years, Jerri and his father and mother, Homer and Merle Hendrix of Purvis, MS. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Doug and Bridget Hendrix of Richmond, Texas and his beloved granddaughters, Emily and Katie Hendrix; his four sisters: Frances Lawler, Barbara Ann Wheat and Patricia Davis all of Purvis, MS and Cheryl Gipson of Saucier, MS; many, many loving nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.
Rex loved and enjoyed his family above all else, and was always proud to hear stories of each individual's successes. He was a master story teller who could recall and tell stories for hours on end, enjoyed tinkering with projects and could repair almost anything.
