Roger "Dale" Green

Roger “Dale” Green passed away Thursday, September 28th at his home in Cypress, Texas with Phillis Noto by his side.

Graveside services will be held at 11 AM, Thursday, October 5th in the Marquez Cemetery in Marquez, Texas. He will be buried next to his grandparents. Dale was born October 18, 1945 in Marquez, the son of Marie Newsom. He lived in Bryan, Texas with his step-father Robert, his step-mother Edna and brother, Glen. He joined the U.S. Navy at the age of 17 and served for six years. Dale was a Nuclear Submarine sailor and served on the “Around the World Ship”.

He went around the world twice and saw places that made a difference in his daily life. He owned his own business called “Aluminum Things to Sell” for over 20 years. He sold all over the world, mainly to resorts and businesses.

Dale loved adventure and never met a stranger. He had a flair for telling stories and called his special story-telling ability “putting icing on the story.” He was one-of-a-kind and very handsome. He loved the Lord all of his life.

He was so proud and honored to a be a heart transplant recipient. He received his heart transplant in 2012 and would tell his story to everyone who would listen. Dale treasured what he called “the heart experience”.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Marie; and uncles Buddy and PeeWee. He is survived by his childhood sweetheart, Phillis Noto; his brother, Glen Green; uncles, Jerry Newsom, Larry Newsom (Susan), Paul Newsom (Debi), Aunts Joy Lewis and Paulette Newsom (Clarence).

Arrangements are under the direction of Walters Funeral Home in Centerville, Texas.
