Bill Oakley Glasgow

June 27, 1931 — September 21, 2021

Bill Glasgow, 90, went home to be with our Lord and Savior on September 21, 2021. He passed away, at home in Huffman, Texas after a brief illness of cancer. He was the first-born son of William Glasgow and Marea Glasgow; born in Cleo, Oklahoma on June 27, 1931 and graduated from Helena, Oklahoma High School in 1949. He served 3 years in the Marines during the Korean Conflict from 1951 through 1954. He came back home to Oklahoma & received his bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from Oklahoma State University. While on an internship at Boeing in Wichita, Kansas, he met the love of his life, Patricia Ann Ramsey. They were married on October 11, 1957, just 6 short weeks after their first date and remained in love, committed, and very happily married for 56 years until she passed away in June 2014.

Bill and his wife, Patricia, moved to the great state of Texas for business opportunities, where they resided for the rest of their lives. Dad always said, “I wasn’t born in Texas, but I got here as quick as I could”!! Bill & Patricia raised their 4 children in and around the Houston/Channelview area. He had a long, successful engineering career in the Houston area that culminated in his becoming the CEO of Bernard Johnson Engineering. Bill retired from the Houston firm, but they recruited him a few years later to open and manage their Dallas location.

Bill and Patricia fulfilled one of their lifelong dreams in 1980 when they bought 22 beautiful acres in Buffalo Texas, that Mom named “Triple Creek”. They lived on their land part time in the first few years, but eventually retired there and loved every minute of it until he sold the property in 2019 and moved to Dayton, so he would be closer to his grandchildren, great grandchildren and great, great grandchildren. He loved attending as many baseball, basketball, and soccer games as possible, as well as all the birthday parties. He was “PaPa Great”!

We will truly miss his ready smile, booming laughter, wisdom, kindness, and love, but we are thankful that he was able to do what he wanted to do until this last month. Our Dad/PaPa/Brother/Uncle was a man that truly lived his life “My Way” (like the song) – as his granddaughter, Candyce observed after spending many hours enjoying listening to the story of his life. He loved The Lord and served as a Deacon at The First Baptist Church of Centerville for many years. Bill was an honorable man that was well respected.
