Billy Charles Zumwalt

Billy Charles Zumwalt was born on August 9, 1943 to Clifford and Estelle Zumwalt of Fort Worth, Texas. Bill entered into his eternal resting place on August 10, 2017. Bill attended school in Fort Worth, Texas, graduated from Tech High School, where he met the love of his life, Mary Beth Chollar. Bill and Mary Beth enjoyed 54 years of marriage and saw all of their dreams come true. After marrying in 1963, Bill served in the U.S. Army.

Following his service, Bill and Mary Beth resided in the Metroplex until 1987. Bill and Mary Beth had two children, Jennifer Zumwalt Miller of Houston and Jonathan Zumwalt of Houston. Throughout his career as an executive in information systems Bill worked in Fort Worth, Texas; Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; and Temple, Texas. After retiring from McLane Company, Bill and Mary Beth retired to Robbins, Texas.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents and by two of his brothers, Ben Zumwalt and David Zumwalt.

Bill is survived by his wife, Mary Beth (Chollar) Zumwalt of Marquez; son, Jon Zumwalt and his wife, Juli, and their son, Joshua, all of Houston; daughter, Jennifer Miller and her husband, James, and their children Kaitrin Miller and Conner Miller all of Houston; brother, Ray Zumwalt and his wife, Linda, of Rendon; sister-in-law, Aleyne Zumwalt of Arlington and several nieces and nephews and some wonderful friends.

Serving as pallbearers will be Conner Miller, Jeff Zumwalt, Bryan Tenan, Michael Zumwalt, Danny Zumwalt and David Tenan.

In lieu of flowers the Zumwalt family has requested that donations be made to the Flynn Volunteer Fire Department, P.O. Box 113, Flynn, Texas 77855.

A time of “Visitation” for Bill will be held at the Walters Funeral Home in Centerville, Texas from 10 AM until 11 AM on Monday, August 14, 2017. The Zumwalt family will receive visitors at that time. At 11 AM, the funeral for Bill Zumwalt will be held at the funeral home. Marty Bellesteros, a Chaplain with the Traditions Hospice Organization, will officiate at the service. Burial will follow in the Zumwalt Family Garden.
