Bobbie E Hardee

January 5, 1935 — September 14, 2016

Bobbie E. Hardee was born in the Redland Community on January 5, 1935. After completing the primary grades in Hearne and Concord, he entered Centerville schools, and remained there until his graduation in 1953. Following high school graduation, he attended John Tarleton Jr. College for two years. He then attended Texas A&M College where he graduated in 1957 with a degree in agriculture. Later he obtained his Master of Education degree from the University of Houston. He served in the U.S. Army from 1958-1965, earning the rank of Captain. While serving in the Army Reserves, he began his career in education, coaching at John Marshall Jr. High in Houston from 1959-1964. He also worked as an assistant principal there, from 1964-1968. Beginning in the fall of 1968, he was principal at John McReynolds Jr. High for five years. Bobbies love for Leon County brought him back home in 1973, and he taught history at Oakwood Jr. High. His dream of becoming a principal at CISD was fulfilled in 1974. He remained in that position until 1993, at which time he was promoted to superintendent. After 41 years in education, he retired from this position in 2000. After retirement, he missed the joy he received from interacting with students and faculty. He welcomed the opportunity to work for Buffalo ISD as an interim administrator on three different occasions, as well as, a part time employee of the Leon County Special Ed. Co-op.

Bobbie felt there was no more noble profession than that of an educator, and for him, it was definitely a calling. He was a people person and always displayed a heart for kids. He found great joy in keeping up with his former students, and was always excited when he had an opportunity to visit with them. Until the time of his death, Bobbie loved telling stories to his family about his life in the profession he loved. He passed away on Wednesday, September 14, 2016 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Bobbie was preceded in death by both of his parents, Carl E. & Valda (Wall) Hardee; sister, Peggy Sue Clossin; sister, Gaylynn Ann Hardee; and nephew, Cole (Jody) Clossin.
