He later moved back to Texas and was a master mechanic at Brown & Root for twenty-five years, and then became a jailor for the Madison County Sheriff's Department. All the inmates in the County Jail loved him and his many stories he told each morning. He met his second wife, Ann Goldsmith at a horse boarding facility on Gulfbank Road in Houston, where Ann's Aunt Marie took a chance and played matchmaker. They were married a year later in 1975. They lived in the Conroe area for many years and moved to Flynn after Calvin retired.
