Carroll Robert "Carl" Grant

May 9, 1947 — October 28, 2023

GRANT, Carroll Robert "Carl," age 76, of Centerville, Texas passed away October 28, 2023 in Houston, Texas surrounded by loved ones.

Carl was born May 9, 1947 in Antigonish, Nova Scotia, Canada, son of the late Duncan Joseph and Mabel Frances (MacNeil) Grant.

Carl spent his entire working life in the construction industry, starting out working for his father as a young lad and continuing until his retirement in 2020. His formal education included a Diploma in Pipe Fitting from Nova Scotia Technical School. With his diploma in hand Carl traveled the world to work on many large projects including stints throughout the US and Canada, South America, and Asia. Carl settled in Texas in 1976. He enjoyed the challenges of large and difficult projects. He could always come up with a creative and efficient way of getting things done. One of his most gratifying and satisfying roles was that of mentoring young engineers as they were coming up in the profession. He was a member of the UA Local 244 Antigonish, Nova Scotia.

Though Carl enjoyed the challenges of the construction industry, his crowning achievement was his development of a large piece of raw property in Centerville, Texas into a working cattle ranch. He loved working the land and the animals.

Carl took great pleasure in riding his Harley Davidson motorcycles and attending rallies across the US. He was a member of the Cut N Shoot Harley Chapter 142001 The Woodlands, Texas. Carl had a great love of family and always enjoyed his time in Nova Scotia visiting with his large extended clan. He hosted many holiday dinners and barbecues over the years. Carl was a generous man and always willing to help anyone in need. He worked hard and played hard. He had a big heart, a great sense of humor and was always ready for a good time! He was affectionately known as "Daddy" to many and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Carl is survived by his children, Shawna (David) Cameron, Lynn (Stephen) Cormier, Carl Grant Jr., Maria (Cory) Ingram, Jenna Grant, and Hailey Grant; grandchildren, Therese Cormier (Robert Paradis), Kayla Cormier, and Mateo Ingram; great-grandchildren, Stephen Paradis and Arthur Paradis; former wives, Rose Grant and Susan Grant; siblings, Richard (Cecelia) Grant, Neil (Cecile) Grant, Sharon (Jamie) MacGillivray, Kevin Grant, Greta (Owen) MacDonald, Owen (Cathy) Grant, Gary Grant, Paul Grant and Michael (Donna) Grant.
