A graveside memorial funeral service for Craig Alan Smith, age 54, of Houston and formerly of Leona, Texas has been set for 11 AM, Saturday, September 17, 2016 at Evans Chapel Cemetery west of Leona. Lunch will be served for friends and family at the Cowboy Church east of Centerville following the service.
Craig Alan Smith was born on September 6, 1961 in Houston, Texas to William Smith and Nora Dean Lambert Smith. He was raised in Leon County and graduated from Centerville High School. He received training and a degree in Air Conditioning from T.S.T.I. in Waco, Texas. He worked several years for Wood and Sons in Buffalo. He and his family lived in Dallas for nine years before moving back to Leon County in 1997. He then owned a chicken farm for several years until he sold the business in 2012. For the past few years, he had lived in Houston. He was preceded in death by his father and step-mother, William and Barbara Smith and his mother, Deanie Hambrick. Craig passed away in Houston on August 30, 2016.
Surviving family includes his daughters, Rebecca Becca Smith of Temple and Ashlee Smith (Tyler Holt) of Normangee; brothers, Steve Smith (Dixie) of Leona and Steve Smith (Mary) of Centerville; sister, Michelle Hardee (Kyle) of Leona; an aunt, Doris Winkler of Waco, granddaughter, Hadley Holt of Normangee and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, great nieces and great nephews.
Arrangements are under the direction of Walters Funeral Home in Centerville, Texas.
