Danny Michael Conner

Danny Michael Conner, 82, of Bryan, Texas, and formerly of Centerville, Texas, passed away on September 19, 2026, in Bryan. He was born on July 28, 1944, in Houston, Texas, and lived a life marked by hard work, kindness, and a genuine enjoyment of the people around him.

Danny earned his bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Highlands University in Las Vegas, New Mexico and went on to build a career as an engineer and machinist. After earning his degree, he worked as a high school teacher in Albuquerque, New Mexico teaching industrial arts. Teaching and mentoring were traits that defined the rest of his life. He later owned his own shop in Alvin, Texas, continuing the work he knew so well with skill and dedication. He was known as a man who could fix nearly anything. Neighbors often found their way to Danny’s house, whether they needed something repaired or simply hoped to borrow a tool. He had a remarkable memory and could recall moments from years past with striking precision, a gift that made conversations with him especially memorable.

Danny met the love of his life, his wife Linda, when they were both seniors in high school in Las Vegas, New Mexico. They were married a few months after graduation and remained lovingly married for sixty-three years. Danny returned with his family to the Houston area in 1976, settling in Dickinson, Texas where they remained for more than fifteen years. Danny and Linda then relocated to Centerville, Texas for twenty years before moving to Bryan in 2024. Wherever they lived, they carried with them the neighborly spirit and sense of connection that meant so much to him. He was a deeply social person who loved talking with people and visiting with neighbors. His outgoing nature made it easy for him to form friendships wherever he went, and he brought warmth and easy conversation into everyday life.

Above all, Danny will be remembered by those who loved him most. He is survived by his wife, Linda (Holley) Conner of Bryan, Texas; his daughter, Tami Klecka and her husband, Patrick, of Bellville, Texas; and his grandson, Braden Walters and his wife, Taylor; as well as his faithful dog, "Tipit," and a host of extended family and numerous friends. Their lives are richer for having shared in his steady presence, his helpful hands, and his gift for making others feel welcome.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Olivia Conner; his father, John Baye Conner; his infant sister, Sally Ann; and his brother, Gerald Conner.

Danny leaves behind the memory of a life well lived—one of work, friendship, conversation, and quiet acts of help that meant so much to so many. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
