Debra Kay Moon

June 3, 1957 — July 24, 2025

Centerville, Texas

Debra Kay Moon, age 68, departed this world on July 24, 2025, after a life richly lived and naturally concluded. Born on June 3, 1957, in Big Fork, Minnesota, Debra was the beloved daughter of John Dee and Rose (Bullock) Winchester.

Throughout her life, Debra embraced a spirit of adventure and creativity, weaving a tapestry of experiences that many only dream of. She spent her formative years in various places, but Leon County became her cherished home, where she nurtured friendships, family, and faith as a member of Victory Baptist Church.

Debra's culinary talents were nothing short of extraordinary; she relished her time as a short-order cook, where her skills led her to serve culinary delights to renowned personalities like Willie Nelson and Andre the Giant. From her kitchen, every meal was a testament to her loving wit and generous spirit.

An adept decorator, Debra had the remarkable ability to transform any space into a warm and inviting home, one that radiated her personality and love. She was a devoted wife, a nurturing mother, and a proud grandmother, yet she was also the truest of friends to those lucky enough to know her.

Outdoors called to Debra—the wild embrace of nature tugged at her heart. She found joy in the simple, yet exhilarating, pleasures of riding her Harley motorcycle, camping under starry skies, and the thrill of hunting and fishing. Each of these moments spoke to her adventurous spirit and zest for life.

Debra was preceded in death by both of her parents; husband, Jerry P. Moon (2020); and brother, Billy Winchester.

Surviving family includes son, Jerry Dee Moon; grandchildren, Levi & Summer Moon & Raley Spence; brother, Jackie Winchester; sisters, Jeana Winchester & Judy Dryer; and countless special friends and extended family.

As we reflect on her vibrant journey, we invite you to join us in celebrating Debra's life. A memorial service will be held, 11 A.M., Saturday, August 2, 2025 at New Salem Cemetery Chapel paying homage to an extraordinary woman who touched so many lives.
