Delores Ann Ackley

February 17, 1953 — May 4, 2025

Centerville, Texas

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Delores Ann (Hull) Ackley, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and cherished friend, who departed her earthly home for a heavenly one on May 4, 2025, surrounded by her dear family. Delores was born on February 17, 1953, in Harris County, Texas, to James Maxie Hull Jr. and Annie Lee (Reece) Hull Jackson. She was raised in Rusk before moving to Centerville in 1963, at the tender age of 10, where she would spend the rest of her life.

Delores dedicated over thirty-one years to the Centerville Independent School District, proudly holding various roles as a bus driver, classroom aide, and cafeteria worker and manager. Her love for children was evident in everything she did, and because of her caring heart, she became an honorary mother and grandmother to many of her children's friends earning the affectionate nicknames, "Mamma D" or "Granny D." She truly made a lasting impact on the lives of countless young people.

Delores married her sweetheart, Charles "Boddy" Ackley, on July 17, 1971, and they built a beautiful life together, celebrated with love and laughter for nearly fifty-four years. Together, they created a warm and welcoming home where family gatherings were always cherished. Delores had a passion for cooking, and her family will forever remember the delicious meals that brought everyone together. She also had a deep love for preserving cherished moments in photos, ensuring that her family's memories would last for generations. Delores' greatest joy truly was her family.

A dedicated member of Calvary Missionary Baptist Church in Centerville, Delores was active in her community, particularly in her youth leader role and her creativity in decorating the church float for the Fourth of July. She had an infectious spirit, never met a stranger, and absolutely loved fifties music and dancing. Delores found joy in the little things, like discovering hidden treasures at garage sales, showcasing her vibrant personality and zest for life.

Delores was preceded in death by her father, James Maxie Hull, Jr.; mother, Annie Lee (Reece) Hull Jackson (L.M.); brothers, Lawrence Mitchell "Mitch" Jackson and James Maxie "Jimmy" Hull; grandparents, John and Susan Reece; and great-grandchildren, Audrey Morgan Skipworth and Preston Spragins.
