Demois Francis Pounds

Funeral services for Demois Pounds, 85, of Leona, Texas will be held 11 A.M., Tuesday, April 12, 2022 at Walters Funeral Home, Centerville, Texas. Pastor Mark Gray will officiate the service, and interment will follow in Oakwood Cemetery, Oakwood, Texas. The public is invited to attend a visitation the evening of April 11th from 6 P.M. to 8 P.M. at the funeral home.

Born Demois Francis Redding August 1, 1936 in Cassville, Missouri, she was the daughter of Martin & Jessie (Hamilton) Redding. Throughout her life, Demois had worked in various places of employment but cherished her job as a wife and homemaker most. She had lived in the Leona area for the past twenty-two years, coming from Houston. Always a woman on the go, Demois enjoyed mowing the yard, gardening and cleaning and was a perfectionist, always wanting everything to be “just right.” Demois was also active in Life Church, Leona, Texas and enjoyed spending time with her church family. She passed away April 6, 2022 at her home in Leona surrounded by her loving family.

Demois was preceded in death by both of her parents and all of her brothers and sisters. She is survived by devoted husband, Billy Pounds of Leona; son, Dalrece (Phyllis) Pounds of Leona; daugthers, Debra (Dale) Hilsgen of Houston, Doreen Ranly of Houston and Diane Henderson of Houston, as well as numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
