Doris Pittman, age 79, of Buffalo, Texas passed away peacefully with her daughter by her side June 7, 2023 in Madisonville, Texas. A funeral service celebrating her life will be held 11 A.M., Saturday, June 17, 2023 at Walters Funeral Home, Centerville, Texas. Bro. Johnny Veretto will officiate the service, and interment will follow in Centerville Cemetery, Centerville, Texas. A time of visitation and remembrance will be held Friday, June 16th from 6 P.M. to 8 P.M at the funeral home.
Doris Yvonne Pittman was born April 6, 1944 in Merkel, Texas to James Taylor "J.T." Carter and Vivian Stanford. As an infant, Doris was adopted and raised by her paternal grandparents, Ida Lee (Bruener) and Owen Carpenter. Doris received an Associate's Degree from Weatherford Jr. College and was a homemaker most of her life, dabbling some in the real estate business. Doris and her family moved to Leon County from Aledo, Texas thirty years ago. It was in Leon County where she became a faithful member of the Leon County Master Gardeners, earning the Emeritus title for her many years of dedication. Doris was also served on the board commission of the Flo Water Board, holding several positions during her membership. Doris thoroughly enjoyed gardening and kept a lovely yard.
Doris was preceded in death by both of her biological parents and adoptive parents, as well as her husband, Johnny Pittman. She is survived by daughter, Tara Pittman of Centerville and half-brother, James Carter (Peggy) of Graham, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members.
Final arrangements are under the direction of Walters Funeral Home, Centerville, Texas.
