It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Earnest Frederick "Fred" Balke, III, who left this world peacefully on November 22, 2025, in his beloved hometown of Houston, Texas. He was born on November 17, 1954, to Earnest Frederick, Jr. and Martha Marie (Kopycinski) Balke, and he spent his entire life cherishing the vibrant community and diverse culture of Houston.

Fred was a dedicated contract laborer, known for his hard work and commitment throughout his career. He was proud to contribute to his community, forging friendships with those he worked alongside. His strong Catholic faith guided him through life, instilling in him a deep sense of compassion and kindness towards others.

An avid fisherman, Fred found solace by the water, where he could relax and reflect. His love for sports, particularly the Houston Astros, brought him immense joy, creating cherished memories with family and friends as they cheered on their team together. Fred also enjoyed playing cards and dominoes, where laughter and friendly competition always filled the air.

Fred's warm spirit and generous heart will be dearly missed by those who had the honor of knowing him. He leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and unforgettable moments that will forever resonate in the hearts of his family and friends.

Fred was preceded in death by both of his parents. He is survived by sisters, Susan Roberts (J.R.) of Flynn and Pat Pilkenton (David) of Marquez; niece, Susan Bell of Baytown; and nephews, Kirt Morrison (Shauna) of Tomball and Russell Riker of Pasadena, as well as numerous extended family and friends.

A celebration of Fred's life will be held on December 6, 2025, at the St. Leo the Great Catholic Church, Centerville, Texas. Family and friends are invited to gather at the funeral mass at 11 AM. Fred will be laid to rest following the service at St. Leo the Great Catholic Cemetery.
