Graveside services for Eula Slatter, 97, of Jewett, and formerly of Buffalo, will be held at 11 A.M., Wednesday, January 11, 2017 at the Concord Cemetery in Concord, Texas. Rev. Josh Gafford will officiate the service. A public visitation will take place on Tuesday, January 10th from 5 P.M. to 7 P.M. at the Walters Buffalo Funeral Home in Buffalo.
Eula Mae Gafford Slatter was born on November 26, 1919 in Leon County, Texas to George Albert & Willard Leola (Shuffler) Overcash. She attended school in Concord and went to the state competition in tennis. Mrs. Slatter was a firm believer that a Coke a day kept the doctor away. She loved playing 42 and fishing. Mrs. Slatter was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan. Talking was never allowed during the game, only during commercial breaks. Mrs. Slatter was so passionate about football that she was known to throw things at the television if the game was not going her way. She had lived most of her life in Leon County and was a member of the Stewart Memorial United Methodist Church in Buffalo. Mrs. Slatter passed away on January 8, 2017 at her home. She was preceded in death by both of her parents; husband, Frank Abner Gafford; sons, Jerold Dwaine and Glynn Gafford; granddaughters, Cindy Lou Hastings and Stephanie Bell Gafford and daughter-in-law, Jamie Gafford.
Surviving family members include daughter, Judy Hastings (Joe) of Jewett; son, Ronnie Gafford of Jewett; daughters-in-law, Vivian Gafford of Waco and Mary Gafford of Mexia and grandchildren, Vicki Ruiz, Audra Hastings, Tom Gafford, Shane Hastings, Linda Reichle, Gregg Gafford, Josh Gafford, Brandi Stevens, Boo Gafford & Laura Smith. She is also survived by fourteen great grandchildren and three great, great grandchildren.
Walters Buffalo Funeral Home in Buffalo, Texas is in charge of all arrangements.
