Eva Marie (Kleckley) Miller, 86, of Crockett, Texas, passed away peacefully at Cass Valley Nursing Home in Centerville on Saturday, October 11, 2025, after a short stay. Eva enjoyed a career in banking before retiring in her 60’s. Her banking career began as a drive-through teller in Houston, where she made the news for being robbed at gunpoint in the 60’s. Undeterred, she stayed with banking and went on to become a bank officer at Davy Crockett Savings & Loan in Crockett. While living in Crockett Eva was a founding member of the Crockett Career Women Organization and an officer of the Crockett Chamber of Commerce. She moved to Trinity, Texas in 1997, where she continued working in banking and met and married Jack Miller.
Eva is survived by her two daughters, Lou Ann Woolley Turner and husband, Larry of Crockett, and Malinda Woolley Shaver and wife, Sheree Gilbert of The Woodlands; granddaughter, Ashley Dailey Crabtree and husband, Josh; step-granddaughters, Kristi Turner Dowdy and husband, Ken and Amanda Turner Long; great-grandchildren, Keaton and Kamdyn Crabtree; step-great-grandchildren, Alyssa and Addison Dowdy and Rider and Charley Long; and numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Eva was preceded in death by husband, Jack Miller; parents, Marvin Elmo and Ruby Viola Gentry Kleckley; three brothers, Wilse Edward, Aubrey Lee “Tojie” and William “Sammy” Kleckley and one infant sister, Sherry Lynn Kleckley.
Eva’s family extends heartfelt gratitude to all of her caregivers as she battled Alzheimer's Dementia, especially the staff at Luminos Hospice and the staff of Cass Valley Nursing Home in Centerville.
Eva will be remembered most for her quirky ways of always making you laugh even in a supposedly serious situation, her wry sense of humor and quick wit, which she never lost.
In lieu of flowers please consider making a donation to the Crockett Career Women’s Scholarship Fund which Eva was instrumental in starting.
Eva will always remain in our hearts, and our lives will never be the same without her.
A celebration of life ceremony honoring Eva will take place November 23, 2025, at 2 P.M. at Larry Bruce Gardens, 3198 County Road 4600, Kennard, Texas 75847.
