Homegoing celebration services for George Murphy, age 84, of Centerville, will take place at 12 Noon, Saturday, April 14, 2018 at the Walters Funeral Home Chapel in Centerville. Rev. Harry Garrett will officiate the service. Interment will follow in the Centerville Community Cemetery. A public visitation will take place from 6 P.M. to 8 P.M., Friday, April 13th at the funeral home.

George Willie Murphy was born February 25, 1934 in Leon County, Texas and passed away April 5, 2018 in Dallas, Texas. His parents were Welton & Opal (Benson) Murphy. George was a lifelong resident of Centerville and a member of St. Paul A.M.E. He loved working as a cattle rancher. George also enjoyed raising flowers and landscaping, watching the Dallas Cowboys and playing dominos. He was also a longtime caretaker of the Centerville Community Cemetery.

George was preceded in death by both of his parents and special companion, Laura Middleton. He is survived by daughter, Vanessa Horn of DeSoto; brother, Flauzell Murphy of Dallas and sister, Betty Jean Palmer of Dallas, as well as, numerous other extended family and friends.
