Jackie Ray Mercer, 78, of Centerville, Texas, passed away peacefully at his home after an extended illness on May 1, 2026, with family close by. He was born in Pasadena, Texas, December 31, 1947, to Mona and Clyde Mercer of LaPorte, Texas. He attended LaPorte schools and graduated May 1967. He worked several years as an electrician for Brown and Root, Inc. He then was employed at Solvay Polymers, Inc., LaPorte, Texas, where he worked until he medically retired in 1999. He and his wife purchased land in 2001, in the Pleasant Springs Community and have lived there since 2004.

He is survived by his wife of fifty-two years, Ginny; children, Mindy, John, B.R., Theresa and husband, Mike, and Carrie; eight grandchildren, Hunter, Jesse, Blake, Sara, Kayle, David, Jordan, and Jarin; as well as eight great-grandchildren, Emilee, Lilith, Dannie, Zora, Jaxon, Andy, Kamari, and Kaycee.

He was preceded in death by his father, Jack Clyde Mercer; mother, Mona Ann Mercer; his sister, Wanda; and his brother, John.

A private family memorial and remembrance will be held in his honor. 

Jackie's family would like to thank the Centerville Volunteer Fire Department, EMS and Lifeflight for their kindness and diligence through the last few years. We also extend our deep gratitude to the nurses and health care workers/aides of Elara Caring and Reliant Home Hospice.
