James Louis Neyland

February 3, 1935 — October 24, 2022

James Louis "Toady" Neyland, 87, of Marquez, Texas passed away on October 24, 2022 in Bryan, Texas. He was born on February 3, 1935 to Dewitt and Reba (Faison) Neyland at home in the Old Bowling Community, Leon County, Texas.

Toady was preceded in death by both of his parents; wife, Louise Neyland; son, Robin Neyland; brother, Curtis and sisters, Ruby, Carol, Neil and Martha. He is survived by sons, Louis (Cheryl) Neyland of the Vanetia Community and Heath Neyland of the Old Bowling Community; grandchildren, Jason (Lindsey) Neyland of Angleton, Christine (Matt) Garner of Tiki Island, Elizabeth Neyland of the Vanetia Community, Chloe Neyland of Leona, James Daniel (Bailey) Neyland of the Old Bowling Community, Caleb (Megan) Neyland of Leona, Ashton Noey, Candace (Lucas) Suggs of the Newby Community and great-grandchildren, Wyatt, Rhett, Faith, Hallie, Brayden, Dylan, Connor, Roper, Boaz, Abner, Dawson, Zela, Anna, Josiah, Judah, Kelcie, Kayzlie, Asher and Alora.

Toady, also known as "Pipi" to his grandchildren, was a very sweet and giving man to all who knew and loved him. He was an encourager to everyone, bringing a smile to their faces and telling jokes, or picking. One of his favorite pastimes was sitting in his rocking chair on the porch while visiting and waving at every car that drove by, then asking "Who was that?" Toady enjoyed feeding his family, as well as horses, cats and any stray animal that wondered up. If you were with him then he would make sure you were never hungry. His grandchildren loved that he always carried around peppermints and believed they needed ice-cream after meals.
