Jo Evelyn Pady (née Price), born to Lester and Evelina (Dillard) Price on May 8, 1939, in Jasper, Texas, passed from this life peacefully on April 1, 2026, in Jewett, Texas, surrounded by her cherished loved ones. Her departure marks the end of a remarkable journey defined by steadfast devotion, unwavering strength, and an abiding faith that illuminated the lives of all who knew her.
Jo's life was one of profound dedication to family and home. A devoted homemaker and mother, she selflessly nurtured her family throughout her entire life, embodying the true essence of love and care. From an early age, Jo demonstrated a remarkable resilience and sense of responsibility; at just nine years old, following the loss of her mother, she courageously assumed the role of caregiver for her siblings, a testament to her indomitable spirit and compassion.
Her formative years were shaped by these early challenges, which only deepened her grace and fortitude, qualities she carried with dignity through health struggles and the heartbreak of losing many beloved family members. Among those departed before her rest both of her parents; her step-mother, Virgie Price; her husband, Charles Pady, Sr.; son, Charles Pady, Jr.; beloved grandson, Bennit Johnson; great-granddaughter, Brooke Bertani; sister, Vera Alexander; and brothers, Ronnie Chappellon and Bobbie Price.
Jo found solace and fellowship within the walls of First Baptist Church in Jewett, Texas, where she was an active member during the last five years of her life. Her faith was a cornerstone of her existence, providing strength and community which nourished her soul in endless measure.
Her interests painted a vivid portrait of a woman who embraced life's simple joys. Jo delighted in the art of gardening, the warmth of cooking, and the novel pleasure of riding her lawnmower, each activity reflecting her connection to nature and family. She treasured social gatherings with her church family, cherishing the camaraderie and spirit of togetherness these occasions offered.
Jo's lineage and legacy live on through her surviving family members, whose lives she touched deeply. She is lovingly remembered by her children: Sharon (Ed) Fenner, Donna (Mark) Johnson, Gary L. Pady, Howard "Glen" Pady, Lisa Jarma (Robert) Brown, and Traci (Clark) McKracken. Her gentle spirit is also carried forth by her brother, Fred Price and sisters, Margie Leteff, Virginia Felder, Rebecca Wilson, Debbie Harvey, and Jean Prange.
The embrace of her descendants extends to a strong and vibrant circle of grandchildren: Mark (Robin) Fenner, Rachel (Ronnie) Edwards, Lauren (Benjamin) LeGrande, Sean (Lisa) Johnson, Melissa (Steve) Bertani, Jesse Pady, Wendy Pady, Megan Jarma, Olivia Stovall, Cole (Sara Grace) Stovall, and Amy (Tim) Harris. The remarkable lineage continues into the next generation with her great-grandchildren Brandon Fenner, Allison (Scott) Shepherd, Emily Edwards, Julian Vossler, Zach Vossler, David Johnson, Farrah Johnson, Ava Bertani, Joe Bertani, and Daphnie Harris, who serve as living testaments to Jo's enduring influence.
A resident of Leon County since 1992 after relocating from Colorado, Jo's life was firmly rooted in her Texan heritage and the communities she cherished. As friends and family gather to celebrate her memory, they will convene at Walters Funeral Home in Centerville, Texas. A visitation will be held on April 8, 2026, from 10 A.M. to 11 A.M., followed by a funeral service commencing at 11 A.M.
