Joesph Alexander "Joe" Cantlon, Jr., of Oakwood, Texas, passed away on March 24, 2025, from a broken heart after the recent loss of his wife of seventy years.
Joe was born in Helena, Arkansas on August 6, 1934, to Joesph Alexander Cantlon, Sr. and Corinne Cantlon; sister, Memorie (Cantlon) Robertson; and brother-in-law, Tommy Robertson. After graduating from Central High School in 1953, he went on to join the United States Marines and then on to study at Texas Tech University. After graduating with a degree in Geology, Joe started his career and worked many years in the Oil and Gas Industry, ending his career with Digicon as a Consultant.
In June of 1955, Joe married his high school sweetheart, Glenda, and always remained steadfast in their devotion to each other for seventy years. Joe is survived by his four sons, Greg Cantlon and wife, Suellen, Mike Cantlon and wife, Melissa, Joe Dan Cantlon and wife, Karin and Cliff Cantlon.
Joe cherished their grandchildren, Justin Cantlon, Meghan (Cantlon) Dixon and husband, Blake Dixon, and Tyler Cantlon; great-grandchildren, Ashlynn Cantlon and Jackson and Augustus Dixon; and nieces Leslie Raine Huber, Julie Shikiar and Rachael Clark.
Joe was preceded in death by his wife, Glenda and both parents and in-laws, Willard Grimes and Joy (McDonough) Grimes.
Joe and Glenda spent their years living all over the world, including Singapore and England, before finally settling in Oak Ridge North in the 1970s, where they raised their four sons. Joe had a love for fishing, hunting and hanging out with Glenda. Joe adored Glenda and you normally couldn't find one without the other nearby.
Joe's spirit will live on forever in all of us that had the pleasure of knowing him.
