Kathy Johnson, 82, longtime resident of Leona, Texas, passed away peacefully in her home on May 24, 2026. Born on June 12, 1943, in Woodstock, Georgia, Kathy lived a life defined by hard work, independence, friendship, and devotion to those she loved.
Kathy was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Ray Johnson of Leona, Texas; her parents, George and Lucille Anderson of Duluth, Georgia; and her sons, Kenneth Ray Johnson, Van Dwayne Johnson, and Jeffery Don Johnson.
She is survived by her sisters, Audrey Davis of Norcross, Georgia, Stella Ledbetter of Jefferson, Georgia and Mary Moulder of Lawrenceville, Georgia; her daughter, Tina Louise Guidry (husband, Steve) of Magnolia, Texas; her son, Michael Anthony Ross (wife, Briggith) of Acworth, Georgia; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. She is also remembered by her extended family, including many nieces, nephews, and lifelong friends. Kathy was well known throughout Leon County as the owner and operator of the Town Cafe in Centerville, which she operated for more than twenty years. Through the cafe, she built lasting friendships and became part of the daily lives of countless members of the community. She especially treasured her longtime friendships with Gloria McCarty of Centerville and Larry and Katy Watson of Leona.
The family extends special appreciation to Luminos Hospice and her caregivers, Nichole Zungia, Laura Phillips, and Virginia Phillips for the care, compassion, and friendship they provided to Kathy during her final days.
Kathy will be remembered for her strength, resilience, generosity, and the deep love she held for her family and friends. Her presence will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
A funeral service honoring Kathy's life will be held 10 A.M., Friday, May 29, 2026, at Walters Funeral Home, Centerville, Texas. Interment will follow in Evans Chapel Cemetery, Leona, Texas. A time of visitation will take place from 5 P.M. to 7 P.M., Thursday, May 28, 2026, at the funeral home.
