Funeral services for Lois Jeanette Newton, age 78, of Flynn, Texas will be held 2 P.M., Sunday, November 3, 2019, at First Baptist Church of Flynn. Bro. Rob Rolison and Bro. Daryl Hatley will officiate the service. Interment will take place in the Wealthy Cemetery, west of Normangee. The Newton family will receive friends Saturday, November 2nd from 5 P.M. to 7 P.M. at First Baptist Church of Flynn.

Lois Jeanette Newton was born January 16, 1941, to Jesse Willard & Ella Mae (Adams) Copeland. She married Ross Newton January 19, 1957, just three days after her sixteenth birthday. Lois was a devoted minister’s wife and homemaker. She was active in her church teaching Sunday School and VBS and supporting her husband in his ministerial duties. Lois worked as a teacher’s aide for about three years, as well as, various other small jobs out of her home.

One of Lois’ favorite parts of life was being a grandmother and great-grandmother. To say that she spoiled her grandbabies is an understatement. She was an ever-present figure in their lives, always in attendance at school events and other activities in which they were involved or serving as a caregiver when needed. Lois was a skilled seamstress and avid crocheter and enjoyed baking, reading and solitaire.

Lois passed away October 31, 2019, in Leona, Texas surrounded by those she loved most—her dear family. She was preceded in death by both of her parents; mother & father-in-law, Marvin & Lorene Newton; husband, Bro. Ross Dean Newton; daughter, Doris Ewing; brother & sister-in-law, Willard Darrell & Betty Copeland and sister-in-law & brother-in-law, Ruth Ann & James “Donk” Williams and nieces, Dale Williams, Julie Copland & Jeannie Copeland.

Surviving family members include daughters, Pam Newton and Mary McRee (Clint); son-in-law, Rodney Ewing; sister, Mary Lou Woodson & husband, Mark; grandchildren, Jeremy McRee, Callie Wood (Cody), Cassie Hall (James), Allisen Ewing & Sara Ewing and great-grandchildren, Abby, Britton & Cayne McRee, Dalton Hall and Candon & Cadlie Wood. Lois is also survived by nieces, Dee Grimes, Morgan Woodson & Jessie Bell and nephew, Jeff Copeland and his son, Cody. Extended family & friends include Margaret Massey and her daughters, Lynn & Marie; Christina Eskridge Harris; Alissa Eskridge Marberry and Tara Conway.

Pallbearers: John Phillips, Kenneth Hendricks, Jan Archer, Steven Payne, Chris Payne, Rob McEachern

Honorary Pallbearers: Duane Martin, Ronnie Archer, Don Payne, Toady Neyland

Arrangements are under the direction of Walters Funeral Home in Centerville, Texas.
