Marlene Pickett, age 85, left her earthly home wrapped in the arms of her Heavenly Father January 5, 2021 in Humble, Texas. She was born December 4, 1935 in The Grove, Texas to Herman William & Erna Maria (Drager) Melcher. Marlene grew up in Giddings, Texas and was a graduate of Giddings High School. She was baptized into the Lutheran Church December 25, 1935 and confirmed April 2, 1950. She married J.D. Pickett October 22, 1955, and they made their home in Houston where Marlene worked as a secretary alongside her husband in the family business of Pest Control. Following retirement J.D. & Marlene moved to their present day home where she resided until her passing.
Marlene enjoyed going to the casinos, fishing and anytime spent with her family of whom she was extremely proud. She was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church, Centerville.
Marlene was preceded in death by both of her parents; husband, J.D. Pickett; grandson, Gregg Allen Pickett and sister, Doris Williams. Those surviving are sons, Jimmy Dale Pickett, Jr. & wife, Katheleen of Houston and Nick Wayne Pickett & wife, Debra of Humble; grandchildren, Kasey & Michael; great-grandchildren, Jude, Rian, Jacob “J.D.”, Taylor & Bryson, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces & great nephews.
Funeral services for Marlene will be held 11 A.M., Saturday, January 9, 2021 at Our Savior Lutheran Church, Centerville. Pastor Keith Bowman will officiate the service and interment will follow in North Creek Cemetery. A public visitation will take place Friday, January 8th from 6 P.M. to 8 P.M. at Walters Funeral Home, Centerville, Texas.
