Mary Sue Lynch Clute, a beloved mother, sister, Nannie, Granny, and aunt, passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, January 9, 2026, in Leona, Leon County, Texas.

Born in Leona, Texas, on December 18, 1939, Sue was the daughter of James Walter “Jim” and Edith Omega (Haston) Lynch. She graduated from Centerville High School in May 1957. That same month, she married the love of her life, Millard George Clute Jr. Their marriage spanned more than fifty-four years and was blessed with three children.

Sue was a devoted homemaker whose greatest joy was her family and many friends. She enjoyed fishing, visiting casinos to play slot machines, sewing, crocheting, and quilting. She proudly served her community for more than twenty years as a volunteer with the Leona Volunteer Fire Department and was a member of the Leon County Home Extension Club. Sue will be remembered for her warm heart and unwavering love for those around her.

Sue is survived by her children, Millard George (Lori) Clute III of Fairfield, Texas, James Lowell Clute of Leona, and Amy Sue Clute (Jennifer Melchior) of Austin, Texas; as well as her special fur baby, Bubba Clute. She is also survived by her sister, Jane Hillenkamp (Leon McVey) of Madison County, Texas; three sisters-in-law, Karen Clute of Little Rock, Arkansas, Beverly Jean (Bill) Freeman of Sugar Land, Texas, and Laura Jo Lynch of La Porte, Texas.

Sue’s legacy lives on through her grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Craig (Connie) Clute of Jewett, Texas, Caren (Albert) Hasty of Bertram, Texas, Justin Owens of Leona, Texas, Dually (Sarah) Owens of Bryan, Texas, Nicolas Hodges, Seth Hodges, Ethan Hodges, Josie (Ivan) Ibarra, Brooke Brown, Paige (Robert) Ortegon, Fallon (Shane) Witherspoon, Colton (Tea’) Pavlicek, and Wyatt (Kaitlyn) Pavlicek, along with great-grandchildren Matthew Remington Owens, Albert Burk Hasty IV, Bronx Gauge Owens, Saralan Cordelia Owens, Wyatt Wayne Hasty, Levi Dennis Hasty, Ava May Ibarra, Brystol Layne Owens, Maverick Pavlicek, and Finley Witherspoon.

She is also fondly remembered by her many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends. The family extends heartfelt gratitude to her longtime caretaker, Elizabeth Fenoglio, and to the compassionate staff at Enhabit Hospice, some whom Sue came to consider family, especially Jennifer, Kim, and Tiara.

Sue was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, Millard George Clute Jr.; and her brothers, Billy Joe Lynch, James Walter Lynch Jr., and George Allen Lynch.

A funeral service will be held at 11 A.M. on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, at Walters Funeral Home in Centerville, Texas. Burial will follow in the Leona Cemetery. A visitation will take place Monday evening, January 12, 2026, from 6 P.M. to 8 P.M. at the funeral home
