IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Mary Jane
Grant
September 16, 1941 – March 19, 2026
Graveside Service
Mary Jane Grant, a cherished soul whose life blossomed with creativity and devotion, passed away peacefully on March 19, 2026, in Rusk, Texas, following a long battle with dementia. Born on September 16, 1941, in the heart of Texas, Mary Jane’s journey through life was one marked by warmth, artistry, and a steadfast commitment to those who knew her.
For many years, Mary Jane dedicated her professional talents as a hairdresser, bringing beauty and confidence to countless individuals. Yet her passions extended far beyond her career. She was an ardent flower gardener, lovingly cultivating the most beautiful yard and flower beds that became a vivid testament to her boundless care and gentle spirit. Her hands were equally skilled in the world of art, where she expressed her creativity through various crafty endeavors. A delightfully simple joy she savored was the refreshing taste of Diet Coke, a small but steadfast pleasure amidst the richness of her life.
Mary Jane’s life was woven intricately with the threads of family, both past and present. She was preceded in death by her devoted husband, George Grant, whose memory she carried with enduring affection. Her children—Joann Stroud, Mary Darlene Grant, Ivy Dean Grant, and Kathleen Hagenbart—also rest in memory, their legacies part of the foundation upon which her love stood. She was sorrowfully separated from her brother Henry “Scooter” Williams, who has gone before her as well.
Surrounding her legacy are the loving memories of her living family: her brothers, C.W. Williams and wife, Barbara, Roger Williams and wife, Wilma, and Jerry Williams and wife, Carol Ann; her beloved sister, Ethel Williams; and her grandchildren, Mary Michelle Gray, Mary Elizabeth Ruscher and husband, Matt, and Christopher Hagenbart and wife, Danielle. The joy she brought to life extends through her great-grandchildren, Maria, Marshall, Eidon, Aeryn, Matthew, MaKayla and husband, Ronnie, and Skylar; and further still to her great-great-grandchildren, Ronnie, Malachi, Ellison, Judah, Henry, and one more precious little soul on the way.
A graveside service to honor Mary Jane’s memory will be held on Tuesday, March 24, 2026, from 1 PM, at North Creek Cemetery. Friends and family are invited to gather in remembrance, celebrating the life of a woman whose presence was as nurturing and vibrant as the gardens she so adored.
Mary Jane Grant’s life speaks eloquently of grace, creativity, and the enduring bonds of family. Though she has departed from this world, the beauty she created—in both her surroundings and within the hearts of those she loved—will forever bloom in radiant remembrance.
Arrangements are under the direction of Walters Funeral Home, Centerville, Texas -- A Walters Family Funeral Home.
