Peggy Jean Watson, a devoted mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away on February 4, 2026, in Marquez, Texas. Born on June 17, 1944, in Houston, Texas, she was the beloved daughter of Frances Pauline (Winstead) Easterling and Travis Ray Easterling, both of whom have since departed from this world.

Peggy’s life was a vibrant tapestry woven with the threads of love, creativity, and joy. She was a woman of many talents, her career spanning roles as a wedding planner and hospitality coordinator for a law firm. Yet, her true art lay in her ability to celebrate life’s moments, embracing every birthday, wedding, holiday, and family gathering with unparalleled enthusiasm. Each occasion became a cherished memory, a testament to her knack for making everyone feel important and loved.

Her educational journey led her through the halls of the University of Houston, where she developed her skills, eventually earning an associate's degree. Peggy was endlessly curious, with a love for travel that took her across the country and deepened her appreciation for life’s beauty. That appreciation found expression in her remarkable creativity—she had a natural gift for making things by hand and bringing ideas to life. She delighted in sharing her work with others, often attending shows and gatherings, and poured the same care and intention into her home, where she lovingly prepared meals from scratch for her family, passing down the value of togetherness, tradition, and love.

As she embarked on her final journey, Peggy leaves behind a loving family who carries her legacy in their hearts. Her children, Traci Ornelas (Carlos) of Marquez, Wende Rickett (Troy) of Jewett, and Lisa Fuller (Andrew) of Greer, South Carolina, continue to exemplify the love and values she instilled in them. Her siblings, Ray Easterling (Patsy) of Normangee, Linda Mayfield of Houston, and David Easterling (Joy) of Houston stand as a testament to her nurturing spirit and familial bonds.

Peggy’s grandchildren — Kevin, Raeslan, Noah, Seth, Eli, Hailey, Abigail, Zoey, Caleb, and Justin — were her pride and joy, the lights of her life that filled her days with laughter and love. Her great-grandchildren, Titus and Tilian, were the newest additions to her heart, embodying the continuation of the love she so generously shared.

A visitation will be held on February 10, 2026, from 12 Noon to 2 P.M. at Walters Funeral Home, followed by her funeral service at 2 P.M. that same day. Family and friends are invited to gather at Walters Funeral Home to celebrate the life of this remarkable woman.

Peggy Jean Watson will be remembered not just for her vibrant spirit and creative talents, but for the love she poured into every interaction, each meal shared, and each celebration marked. Her legacy lives on in the hearts of those she touched, a beautiful reminder of the profound impact one soul can have in this world.

Arrangements are under the direction of Walters Funeral Home, Centerville, Texas -- A Walters Family Funeral Home.
