Obituary

Listen to Obituary

On February 22, 2026, Ronald “Ron” Burchett, loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away at the age of 84.

Ron was born in Hillsboro, Ohio, to the late Claude Burchett and Martha Oney Burchett. He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Betty Burchett Mills; and his beloved wife of sixty-one years, Yvonne Tolliver Burchett, who we trust was waiting to meet him at Heaven’s gate.

He is survived by his children, Gregory “Michael” Hatfield, Veronica Hatfield Morain (Courtney), and Rodney Brian Burchett (Madonna); his grandchildren, Kierstyn Yvonne Rodriguez (Luis) Elizabeth Shae Burchett, and Kailey Labig Patterson (Chad); and great-grandchildren, Aleigha Rodriguez , Adalynn Rodriguez, and Memphis Patterson.

He is also survived by his siblings, David Roger Burchett, Patricia Burchett Wilson, and Dolores Burchett Criger along with many nieces and nephews who loved him dearly.

Ron was the strongest man we have ever known — resilient, hardworking, and unwavering in his devotion to his family. He carried the weight of responsibility without complaint and made sure his family was always cared for and protected. He was the one you could count on, the steady foundation that held everyone together.

Though he was a man of immense strength, he also had a tender heart. He would sing nursery rhymes to his grandchildren and great grandchildren , filling the room with warmth and comfort. In those moments, you saw the softness behind the strength — a man whose greatest pride and joy was his family.

While our hearts carry the weight of losing him, we find comfort in picturing the reunion that surely took place as Yvonne welcomed him home. We can only imagine her meeting him at Heaven’s gate, their hands reaching for one another once more.

His legacy of strength, sacrifice, love, and faith will live on in every mile traveled, every lesson taught, and every lullaby remembered.

A funeral service for Ronald Burchett will be held on Saturday, February 28, 2026, at 2 P.M., at Walters Funeral Home, located at 610 South Commerce Street, Centerville, Texas 75833.

Flowers may be sent directly to the funeral home. The family kindly asks that floral arrangements be purchased through Arabella’s Floral Design.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or to the Alzheimer's Association in support of Alzheimer’s research.

Ronald will be laid to rest in Buffalo Cemetery, beside his beloved wife. We find peace in knowing they are reunited at last, able to finally go home together as they meet their Maker.
