Ronald Lee Kinder

Ronald Lee Kinder, of Centerville, Texas, passed away May 11, 2023 in Houston, Texas at the age of seventy-nine years.

Ronald was born May 26, 1943 in Houston, Texas to Calvin T. & Mable V. (Lawrence) Kinder. He served his country during the Cuban Missile Crisis and was honorably discharged at the beginning of the Vietnam War. Ronald married Connie Sutton and they had two children, Ron and Terry. Ronald worked and later retired as a Plant Supervisor for Carbide Manufacturing. He and Connie soon moved to Centerville, Texas where he opened Checkerboards Pizza Restaurant before retiring again, living out the remainder of his retired life.

Ronald was a humorous man and a joke teller. In his younger years, he and Connie enjoyed dancing. He also enjoyed doing carpentry work and was a skilled writer of music and poetry. In his later years, one could often find Ronald sitting on his porch at his house in town watching the cars pass. Ronald loved to help others and had a giving heart. He attended The Centerville Church of Christ.

Ronald was preceded in death by both of his parents; infant brother, George Kinder and step-father, Joe Tracy.

Surviving family members include wife, Connie Kinder of Centerville; son, Ronald "Ron" Kinder, Jr. (Deborah) of Kingwood; daughter, Terry Little (Travis) of Dickinson; grandchildren, Andrew Fisher, Johnsa Kennedy (Stacy), and Jessica Kennedy; great-grandchildren, Kayden Walker, Jaston Kennedy, Cameron Kennedy and Caleb Kennedy, as well as brothers, James L. Kinder (Irene) of Houston and Calvin Kinder of Shepherd; several nieces and a nephew.

A memorial service to honor Ronald's life will be held 1 P.M., Saturday, May 27, 2023 at Walters Funeral Home, Centerville, Texas. Boyd King, pastor of The Centerville Church of Christ, will officiate the service.
