Samuel Thomas Richards was born in Mount Carroll, IL on July 12, 1918. He passed away on October 11, 2017, at home in Centerville, TX. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lillian Richards; his parents, Sam and Lena Richards; five brothers; four sisters; and granddaughter Karmyn Crabb. He is survived by one sister, Gloria Bergen, of Dickinson, TX; four daughters: Sharon Mangan of Centerville, TX, Jean Catchings (Sonny) of Magnolia, TX, Peggy Crabb (Bill) of Huntsville, TX, Sandra Harrist of Bryan, TX; seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

He came to Texas in 1943 and lived in several Texas locations. He was a rice farmer, heavy equipment operator, and mechanic employed by Waukesha-Pearce of Houston, TX for several years before moving to Centerville in 1980. He enjoyed retirement, working in his woodshop making tables, toys, etc.

Visitation will be held Friday, October 13, 2017 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Walters Funeral Home in Centerville. TX. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, October 14, 2017 at 1:00 PM at the Centerville Cemetery in Centerville, TX.

Pallbearers are Lloyd Brown, Rory Glasgow, Beau Harrist, Brandon Harrist, Wes Haynes, and DeWayne Mangan. Honorary pallbearers are Tim Brandt, Sonny Catchings, Bill Crabb, Brian Glasgow, and Patrick Glasgow.

Walters Funeral Home in Centerville, TX is in charge of all arrangements.
