Sandra Seale Turner Powers, affectionately known as Sandy, passed away on October 6, 2025 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Bryan, Texas, surrounded by loved ones. She was 84.

Born on July 14, 1941, in Madisonville, Texas, Sandy was the daughter of Willie Ray Turner Sr. and Mamie Bell Turner. She graduated from Clyde High School in 1959 and soon after relocated to Houston, where she began building a life filled with quiet strength, deep faith, and unwavering love for her family. She later settled in Concord, Texas, where her roots ran deep and her presence became a cornerstone of her community.

Sandy dedicated many years of service as a food service worker with Spring Branch ISD, where she was known for her strong work ethic and ever-present smile. Upon retirement, she poured her time and energy into what mattered most to her—her family, her faith, and the simple joys of everyday life.

She will be remembered as kind, warm, generous, and deeply compassionate. A faith-driven woman who loved without condition, Sandy had a gift for making others feel seen and valued. She found joy in cheering for her beloved Houston Astros, sharing coffee and conversation, and doting on her beloved dogs. Her laugh was unmistakable, and her presence comforting.

Sandy was a devoted wife, a loving mother and grandmother, and a cherished friend. Her legacy lives on in the values she instilled in her family—kindness, generosity, humor, and resilience. She was the heart of the family, and her absence will be deeply felt by all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her devoted husband of sixty-five years, Jerry Powers; her daughter and son-in-law, Carla and Arthur Tamper; daughter-in-law, Lauren Powers; and grandchildren, Kristin and Leon Solimani, Lanae and Vince Rockwell, Travis and Morgan Powers, Dillon and Krysti Whitman, and Aleyah Tamper. She also leaves behind great-grandchildren, Sebastian, Scarlett, Laikynn, Cash, and Steelie. Sandy was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Jerry Michael Powers; her brother, Willie Ray “Bubba” Turner Jr., sister, Mamie Ray; and many dear friends who now welcome her home.

A funeral service honoring Sandy's life will be held 2 P.M., Monday, October 13, 2025, at Walters Funeral Home, Centerville, Texas. Bro. Louis Neyland, pastor of Vanetia Baptist Church, will officiate the service. A private family interment will follow in Concord Cemetery.
